Alethea Lange’s work focuses on empowering online users to control their digital presence. She develops standards for fairness and accountability in algorithms, updates estate law to protect digital accounts from inappropriate access, and researches how data influence aspects of our everyday lives, like our diet. Prior to joining CDT, Lange was an independent writer and researcher focused on technology policy. She also worked for several years in the U.S. Senate and had a brief but glorious internship for Chicago Public Radio’s Wait, Wait … Don’t Tell Me.
