Mark Thain is Head of Citizenship programming in the Americas and Director of the Barclays Social Innovation Facility, an internal accelerator for the development of commercial solutions to social and environmental challenges. As a professional management accountant, Thain had extensive experience in project finance before joining the Barclays Community Investment team in 2009. Initially taking responsibility for strategy, finance, and impact evaluation across a global portfolio of community partnerships, he later brought together the worlds of business and society to develop and launch the Barclays Social Innovation Facility. After launching the facility with an initial £25 million financial commitment, he now leads the social innovation team, overseeing a portfolio of investments and driving a pipeline of new opportunities that help social innovation and intrapreneurs thrive.
