Big Bold Question: Should Companies Combat Systemic Discrimination?

November 2, 2016, 3:00 pm-4:00 pm

2016 has been the year of the corporate activism, with CEOs taking a public stance on everything from climate change to LGBTQ rights. Yet one issue has been less visible on the business agenda: discrimination. In Silicon Valley, technology companies came out in support of the #BlackLivesMatter movement, and in Europe, some companies have helped government efforts to resettle refugees by donating to humanitarian agencies or providing training and job placement. But what is the business role in addressing systemic discrimination based on race, religion, gender and refugee status? Across the world, these are politically charged and divisive issues, leading many companies to ask whether they should take a stand. Join us to discuss the role of companies as influencers in this timely debate.
